About Us

Engineers Without Borders – USA (EWB-USA) is a non-profit humanitarian organization established to partner with developing communities worldwide in order to improve their quality of life. This partnership involves the implementation of sustainable engineering projects, while involving and training internationally responsible engineers and engineering students.

The Asheville Professional Chapter (EWB-Asheville) was established in 2008  as a branch of EWB-USA. EWB-Asheville seeks to share the vision and missions of the national EWB organization with engineers and professionals in western North Carolina.

The chapter provides the opportunity for professionals to volunteer their skills and expertise with international aid projects. EWB projects challenge engineers to design and construct sustainable systems while building partnerships in developing communities.  They rely on experts from a variety of professions to  raise awareness, gather resources, and get things done.

Chapter members set the chapter priorities.  If you know of someone in need, please join and bring their need to the group.

Chapter Goals

  • To provide an outlet for professionals in the Western North Carolina region that are interested in international aid projects and sustainable engineering design.
  • To provide the opportunity for members to share their skills and expertise with developing communities.
  • To educate and challenge members in the field of sustainable design, including applications both locally and abroad.
  • To support and work with local collegiate EWB-USA chapters in their project endeavors.
  • To raise funds needed to support EWB Asheville Professionals Chapter and collegiate projects.
